01 / THE TOOL

What it does

The Source KWI is a keyword research and intelligence tool I built and operate. Give it seed keywords, a competitor’s website or a plain description of a market, plus a target country and language. It returns a scored, clustered set of keywords, each with a recommendation: build, bid or skip.

It works for any niche. I use it for my own properties, for client work and for sizing up markets before anyone spends money on them. Each report comes as a spreadsheet with the keyword, estimated monthly searches, bid range, advertiser competition, organic difficulty, search intent and cluster, plus an estimated monthly cost per cluster if it were run as paid search.

02 / THE METHOD

How it decides

Two independent signals drive every recommendation.

  • Buying intent. What advertisers bid for a click. Nobody pays a high price per click out of optimism, so a high bid is the market confirming that the traffic converts.
  • Cost to win. Who actually holds the first page of results. Major brands, marketplaces and directories are hard to displace; small sites and forums are not.

High intent and winnable means build: proven buyers, available for free. High intent but entrenched means bid: worth money, but a paid play. Low intent means skip, however easy it looks. Rankings that convert nothing are the expensive mistake this tool exists to prevent.

One distinction matters more than the rest. Google’s advertiser competition figure measures how many advertisers bid, not how hard a page is to rank. The two often move in opposite directions, so organic difficulty is worked out separately from the results page and never from the advertising figure.

Outputs are estimates and analysis, not guarantees of rankings, traffic or revenue.

03 / GOOGLE DATA

Google data and permissions

The Source KWI uses authorised access to the Google Ads API to request keyword ideas and metrics: estimated search volume, bid ranges and advertiser competition, by country and language. Access is granted through Google OAuth using the Google Ads permission. The tool uses that permission for keyword planning only. It does not create or change advertising campaigns.

Google user data is used only to produce keyword-intelligence reports. It is not sold, not used for advertising or profiling, and not passed to the newsletter or analytics systems on this site. Credentials are stored as secrets on a restricted server. You can revoke access at any time through your Google Account’s third-party connections.

Use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

04 / POLICIES

Privacy and terms

The Privacy Policy explains what The Source KWI collects, how Google data is handled, how long reports are kept and how to request deletion. The Terms of Service cover acceptable use of the tool and its outputs.
